Part 4: “Thumbs, Uniforms, and a Small World”

After I followed Yasmine’s Instagram account from my real account, I was immediately shocked by one thing that left me speechless—the highlights were full of her “vacations abroad.”

Not just one or two countries. But repeatedly. Japan, Korea, Turkey, even Paris. Complete with influencer-style poses: thick coats, branded luggage, Eiffel Tower backgrounds, and motivational success captions. But me—and of course, my husband—could only sigh while trying not to laugh.

My husband got dragged into this drama too. We opened the highlights one by one. He just shook his head and said:

“How… how is this even possible?”

And I replied:

“Look at her thumbs—they’re different! Sometimes really pale, sometimes darker. Sometimes long nails, sometimes clean like a man’s hand. Obviously stolen pictures.”

Yes. Thumbs. A detail often forgotten. But they can be witnesses to delusion.

I was so annoyed I felt like a worm on a hot pan. I wanted to scream:

“Yasmine, wake up! I know all your lies!”

But I held it in. Dramas like this are best enjoyed slowly.

Not long after, new gossip came. Yasmine is apparently pursuing her Master’s now. And claims she’s divorced. Hahaha! Divorced from who? We all know she’s never been married!

I started sending Yasmine’s story screenshots to my friends. Including to one of our old friends she had blocked. Recently, on Kartini Day, Yasmine posted herself in a red kebaya with a caption like a national heroine. Classic. But still hilarious.

I realized this might be the final chapter of this soap opera. The closing episode before the curtain falls.

Because after Yasmine blocked me (again), my friends became my eyes and ears. They diligently sent me the latest screenshots and updates. I even started half-jokingly advising them:

“Don’t be too petty… Let’s just wait and see who she marries, what her kids will be like, how her life turns out…”

Then came the bombshell:

“Yasmine is a flight attendant now.”

I almost choked.

Of course, this profession matches her past storylines: married to a pilot, always flying around. But as usual, reality didn’t support the narrative.

She started uploading photos of herself in flight attendant uniforms.

But… here’s the huge problem: the airlines were different!

Today Garuda, next week Lion, the month after Batik Air. Some photos blurry, some overly HD, some too bright, some horribly cropped. The only consistent thing? Not a single picture showed Yasmine’s real face.

If she had used filters, fine. But these were other people’s photos. Edited. Claimed as her own.

We all—me, Vita, Erna—started to feel embarrassed ourselves. As if we were not just loyal viewers, but also unwilling cast members of this show. Pride stung: “How did I ever believe her?”

Yasmine even posted photos of fancy gifts, complete with the caption:

“Thank you for the gift, Captain ❤️”

A caption that made us want to facepalm.
“Which Captain, Yas?”
“Captain Majin Buu?”

But all these lies finally unraveled because of one often-forgotten fact:

The world is small. Too small for lies that big.

One of our friends, let’s call her Nia, happened to have a coworker who worked with Yasmine. And guess what…

“Yes, Yasmine works at that company, but she’s not a flight attendant.
And yeah… she’s known for being problematic.”

The drama took a new turn. Now it wasn’t just about kebayas, gyms, or fake gifts. It started touching her professional reputation. But as always, Yasmine remained… Yasmine.

She never realized that this world is as narrow as a moringa leaf—and in such a small world, lies can’t stay hidden for long.
