Anton had just come home from work when a large box arrived at the house.
“Bunda, this is from a coworker,” Anton said, placing the box on the dining table.
Bunda, his wife, opened it curiously. Inside was a roasted stuffed chicken and a few other dishes.
“Wow… who sent this?” she asked.
“A coworker,” Anton replied briefly while taking off his shoes.
A few days later, Bunda finally learned who sent it. Her name was Nadia, one of Anton’s colleagues. She was already married with two children, but she lived apart from her husband because of work. Her children lived with her husband in another city.
One evening, Anton casually shared a story while relaxing in the living room.
“Bunda, guess what? Nadia once admitted that she spied on our house. She said she was just curious about what you look like,” Anton said with a small laugh.
Bunda paused for a moment, thinking, She spied on our house?
Anton went on with his story.
During one business trip, Anton and Nadia were in the same group with a few other colleagues. They stopped by a shopping center, and Anton was browsing leather jackets.
“I’ll buy it for you if you like,” Nadia suddenly offered.
Anton quickly refused, “I can pay for it myself.”
When Anton told Bunda about it at home, she just smiled.
“Yah, you answered wrong,” Bunda teased.
“You should’ve said, ‘Buy one for my wife too.’ That would’ve been fair.”
Anton laughed loudly at her remark.
“Well then, if someone offers again, you’d better be ready!” he joked.
“Of course! Just make sure I get to enjoy it too, not only you,” Bunda replied playfully.
Anton could only sigh, feeling lucky to have a wife who could stay calm and even joke about situations that might shake other households.
