A Salary of Blessings

Gaji yang Berkah
Gaji yang Berkah

Since 2017, my sister’s life has changed drastically. Her husband left, abandoning her with three young children. Every day was a struggle; sometimes, even putting food on the table felt impossible. I still remember clearly how my nephews and nieces often went hungry, while my sister tried to stay strong though her face was filled with exhaustion.

At that time, I was just an employee earning only the minimum wage in Jakarta. Nothing to be proud of. But when I saw my sister in such despair, my heart couldn’t take it. I gathered the courage to give her my entire salary—100 percent without keeping a single rupiah for myself. For my own needs, I lived only on occasional bonuses or small blessings that came my way.

Some might have thought I was foolish. But from that moment on, my life began to change. Strangely, fortune kept flowing. In just six years, I was promoted four times, even though I felt my skills were nothing extraordinary. I can’t explain why, but I believe God saw the sincerity behind my decision to help my sister.

Now, things are so much better. My sister no longer relies on my salary, because I built a small restaurant business for her. She can stand on her own feet, raise her children, and smile again.

For me, this journey is proof that giving never makes us poorer. Instead, it is from sincerity that true blessings begin.
