Lonely Behind the Lens

Galau di Balik Lensa

Her name was Rina, a housewife in her early 30s, known among her friends as graceful, well-groomed, and quite active on social media. Her Instagram feed was full of polished selfies and captions laced with melancholy:

“Sometimes the exhaustion isn’t physical, but comes from a heart that’s never understood.”
“There are feelings that never arrive, no matter how many times they’re sent.”

At first, everyone thought she was just fishing for a little attention — understandable for a woman who spent her days caring for the house and children. But there was something else going on.

Amid the dozens of likes and comments on her posts, a DM arrived from a man named Raka. He, too, was married — but his photos showed a relaxed smile and casual demeanor.

“You seem sad a lot. What’s going on? 😊”

Rina replied. One reply became two, became long conversations. Their chats moved to WhatsApp. What started as small talk became late-night confessions, and then plans to meet in secret.

They met at a café.

Raka was nothing like her husband — he was just a private tutor with meager earnings. Yet somehow, Rina felt “seen” in a way she hadn’t in years. They grew bolder. One night, their meeting ended in a hotel room.

But as the saying goes: no rotten smell can be hidden forever.

Rina’s husband started to grow suspicious, and eventually discovered their chats.

One afternoon, he showed up at Raka’s workplace. In front of Raka’s waiting students, he grabbed him by the collar and unleashed his fury:

“You shameless man! You wreck someone else’s home, and you don’t even have money! Every meal, every café, every movie — my wife paid for it all, with my money! You hear me?!”

Raka just bowed his head, face burning red, unable to defend himself. His students stared, some with pity, some with shock.

In the aftermath, everyone was left shaking their heads. Even Rina’s closest friend couldn’t help saying:

“I just can’t understand. She already had a wealthy, kind husband, a secure home. But she risked it all for a broke man who couldn’t even pay his own way. That’s not love — that’s just stupid.”

Rina stopped posting on social media after that. All the selfies, all the sad captions, disappeared.

All that remained was a lesson: sometimes, loneliness and a craving for attention can lead someone straight into the most humiliating trap of all.
