The Primadonna No One Could Understand

I used to have a friend—let’s call her Mira.
Mira was the type of girl who could light up any room she walked into. Tall, fair-skinned, beautiful—basically the primadonna of our circle. Honestly, I always thought she’d be the first among us to get married. I mean, she was so easy to approach, and guys just flocked to her.

And not just any guys. We’re talking about army officers, local TV presenters, band members, even entrepreneurs. The kind of men most girls would dream of. I thought, “Well, it won’t be hard for her to choose. Just pick whichever fits her standards.”

At one point, she was even this close to being engaged. She was introduced to the guy’s parents, and the news spread among us. I was genuinely happy for her, already imagining attending her wedding.
But then—just like that—it fell apart again.

Looking back, though, Mira has always been a little… absurd. She had this strange habit: whenever some mental health issue or trendy illness was being talked about online, she would suddenly claim it as her own.

When everyone was talking about bipolar disorder, suddenly her IG story said:
“I finally understand… I’m bipolar.”

When autoimmune diseases were the hot topic, she posted:
“Sorry, I can’t get vaccinated. My autoimmune is flaring up.”
Yet, she never once went for regular checkups or took any supporting meds.

Then came the GERD wave, and again, she declared:
“My acid reflux is acting up, I can’t go out.”
But the next thing you’d see? She’s downing spicy food and sipping huge cups of coffee every single day. Anyone who actually has GERD knows that’s basically torture.

And then there were her random fantasy vacations. Out of nowhere, she’d post pictures of beaches, mountains, or tourist spots. But oddly enough, not a single photo of her face. Which was suspicious, because Mira was the type of person whose daily stories were filled with endless selfies. The idea that she’d go on a trip without posting herself? Yeah, no way.

Maybe that’s what turned guys off. At first, they’d be drawn to her looks, her charm. But the deeper they got to know her, the more they realized her personality wasn’t quite what they expected.

Still, I can’t say she’s a bad person. In fact, Mira had a lot of good qualities. She was diligent, patient, a great cook, and very tidy. But unfortunately, those strengths were often overshadowed by the quirks in her personality.

As her friend, whenever she confided in me, I could only tell her:
“Mira, just keep improving yourself. Always reflect, be patient. God knows the right time, and He knows when you’re truly ready.”

Sometimes I genuinely felt sorry for her. She had beauty, she had skills, but she still struggled to find the right partner. Maybe it wasn’t just bad luck—maybe it was simply because she hadn’t finished making peace with herself.
